Dad and mom had been complaining about terrible air quality in their lake house. The lake apartment had been part of our family since I was 11 years old. However, when mom and dad retired from their jobs they opted to sell my childhood home. The community around the lake apartment had really grown and it was such a beautiful place to live. So, the second home became their main apartment once the other one sold. To be honest, I always wanted to live in the lake house, however they said no, but back then the place was a bit remote and it would have been a two hour commute to and from their respective workplaces. So, they chose to keep the lake apartment as a second home and we lived in the city. Now, they find more time to relax and cherish the lake community. However, mom and dad told me they were having issues with indoor air quality. Since I live in the city the only solution I could afford was for them to contact an HVAC business. There was one that always did their HVAC repairs and service, so dad phoned them for assistance. An HVAC specialist went to the lake apartment to do a thorough inspection and also test the air quality. She noted that since my parents began living at the lake house, they had yet to have their HVAC duct cleaned. Dust, dirt, and mold accumulates in the air ducts affecting the air quality, so it’s always pressing to do air duct cleaning at least once a year.

It was just the other week when my child called me crying so much.

Her favorite house plants were dying because her AC had failed while she was on a trip. I did feel bad for her, however I was also not surprised that this was an issue she was facing. My child obtained this apartment three years ago and I was so proud of her. While she did some upgrades, there were some pressing issues she chose to postpone. One issue was the roof that I felt needed to be upgraded. The previous homeowner had been there for close to twenty years and in all that time she never upgraded the roof. She’d only done patchwork to stop leaks and other issues on the roof. My child opted to keep the roof and instead pay for repairs here and there. I knew it would have been better to incur the cost of a new roof that keeps making endless repairs. Second, my child chose to retain the old HVAC system that had been in the apartment for more than a decade. Again, I told her it would be a mistake to keep the aging HVAC unit in her home. However, she felt this was the best thing to do and save money. Well, her worst fear came true when the A/C failed and now her home was separate from air conditioning. Fortunately, she found a local HVAC corp to do a upgrade for her and even landed a great deal on the new HVAC system, and now she won’t be upset about her houseplants for quite some time.

For a long time, Jane has always wanted to own a mountain house.

She recalls one time her parents took her on a short trip to the most charming mountain house.

Her dad is an interior decor expert, and the owner had contracted him to add furniture and furnishings, however Jane’s dad threw himself into the job and had the best time. Then, it was time to hand over the apartment to the owner. She was so impressed that she allowed Jake, her dad and her mom to stay there for a week. Her plan was to turn it into a vacation rental/second home. However, she wasn’t charging them for the short stay! From then on, Jane always said her second home would be a mountain home. Last year she sold her business and had enough money to go after her dream. She found this charming mountain crib for sale, obtained it and did lots of upgrades. Then, Jane went a step further and added a new furnace to the mountain house. The previous owner had installed a gas furnace to the mountain house. However, Jane wanted to use an electric furnace that was much more energy efficient. The price of gas is on the rise and she saw no need to keep the gas furnace around. Jane had an HVAC expert come to the mountain apartment to do the switch from a gas furnace to an electric one. Once she had completed the work, Jane worked on the component and was delighted the new furnace was working well in her mountain house.

It was time we both chose to go to stay at the cottage for the summer, and it’s one of the most charming places we both have ever been to. All our friends agree and each summer, starting from as early as the end of May, we both have people staying at the cottage. However, we both always make sure to spare about two weeks so we both could also go and relax. One of the reasons we both cherish the cottage is it’s within driving distance from the largest lake in our state. Summertime is busy and so much fun at the lake and we also get to be outside for several hours. Well, our friends were the last people at the cottage before it was our turn to go and cherish a short trip. My associate and I always checked to see if they had a beautiful time and they confirmed they did. The only issue was the window AC that wasn’t as effective anymore. My associate and I have always had a window AC at the cottage and this was the best cooling system we both could get that didn’t cost too much money to buy and set up. At the time we both got the cottage we both didn’t have lots of money to add a central HVAC system. So, this is why we both opted to get the window A/C unit. It had been almost a decade and we knew it was time for an upgrade, as our guests were right about the window AC’s performance. So, we both did some research on the right component to add to the cottage. My associate and I could always go with the option of forced air units. However, that meant also incurring the cost of adding air ducts to the cottage, so the second and best occasion was to install ductless systems in the property. At the end, we both chose to take three ductless units and set them up in the cottage to keep all the people comfortable during their stays.

Have you ever gone on a vacation somewhere, had so much fun, and chose to relocate to the area? This is exactly what I did two years ago.

The pandemic had been hard for everyone, and it really left my mental health in shambles.

So, as soon as I could travel locally, I opted to do so. A friend had told me of a location in another state with amazing hiking trails, the best scenery, and a camping ground. I did my research, and went there for a week. Little did I know I was going to fall in love with this place and relocate. I went back home feeling uneasy, and opted to look for job vacancies in the area. There was resort hiring, so I applied. A week later, I did an interview, and the job was mine. It took little time for me to settle in since I even had a house I wanted to buy, and did so within a month of relocating. Then, I had to have someone come and do HVAC maintenance in my new home. Since I knew little about the HVAC businesses in the area, I opted to do a bit of research online. There, I saw this one HVAC business with amazing reviews. I left them a message on the chat box I saw popup once I accessed the website, and they got back to me in less than 10 minutes. I found that to be quite efficient, and I also loved the services I got from the HVAC tech they sent to my house.

It has been such a wonderful time having Dave as my apprentice. My boss always likes to hire guys fresh from HVAC school. They join our apprenticeship, and we get to train them about the job . It’s one thing to train in school about heating and cooling systems. The trainers and instructors even do their best to show students the practicalities of working with HVAC systems. However, the real world is so much more different. As more experienced HVAC experts, we get to teach the apprentices more about the job. We take them to the customers’ homes, show them the right interactions to have, and how to inspect the different heating and cooling systems. It’s been so great having Dave under my wing. Ever since he was assigned to me a few months ago, we’ve had the best time. I’m more of an old timer, and Dave is a gen-z, so we always find each other laughing. There are stories I share and he says the old days were weird. That always makes me feel like I’m 100 years old. However, he is a kind kid, and always eager to learn. So, I share all the experience and wisdom with him hoping he has a lasting HVAC career. Last week, we were on our way to fix a faulty gas furnace when I told Dave we only had one more week to work together. Then, he’d get his own HVAC van, and be off to meet customers on his own. He had a mixture of emotions about this news, but I knew he was ready to hit the ground running as a heating and cooling expert.

I’ve been to many comedy shows in our state and neighboring areas.

It’s so much better for my friends and I to go drinking and have a great laugh than just heading to the club.

Now, there’s nothing wrong with going to the club. However, it’s better to go to a comedy show, have a great laugh, and feel the stress of life lifted from your spirit. One issue I have with such comedy clubs is their air conditioning, or lack of it. Some intentionally have the air conditioning running at full blast, and this turns the room into a freezer. People have their coats on, and those who came without coats sit there shivering. I once had a guy yell that they turn off the air conditioner in the middle of a set at a comedy club out of town. Other patrons agreed with him, and the management turned down the air conditioner. In other places, it’s completely opposite. They have the air conditioner off, and the place feels like a furnace. We all sit there sweating until it becomes unbearable. In one place, folks started walking out, and the comedian had to stop and ask why they were leaving. He was also dripping sweat, so the management turned on the air conditioner. The last comedy show I attended with my friends was the best one yet. And they had the cooling system working well the entire time. I truly think it’s because of the effective cooling system that we were all laughing and falling off our seats. No matter how funny the comedian is, it’s hard to enjoy the show if the cooling system settings are off.

It’s been such a wonderful year for my business, and I can say I’m truly grateful.

For the longest time, I loved plants and wanted to open a plant shop.

However, my parents insisted that it was more of a hobby. In our family, mom and dad sort of bully us into the careers they think are perfect for us. So, this is how I found myself in finance and working in an office in the city. I know many people would love the job, and the pay wasn’t bad at all. But, I always felt drained walking into the skyscraper every morning. Then, the pandemic hit, and I found myself working from home. With so much time on my hands, I decided to work on my neglected garden. I also had a sunroom set up, and got many houseplants. That rekindled my love for plants, and my idea for a plant shop. Many people loved the pictures I was taking of my house and garden plants, and I was soon selling them. When it was time to go back to the office, I quit, moved my plants to a shop, and began my business. Last spring, I had to turn on my AC early at home since it was getting hotter every day. I still have plants in my sunroom, and also in my plant shop in the village. When it gets too hot, I find it better to turn on the AC and regulate the temperatures in my home. That way, my plants can grow and thrive. I also adjust the temperature settings on the thermostat in my plant shop for the same effect.

I was late to work yesterday, so I practically flew out the door.

The previous night, my kid tricked me into watching a movie with her.

It was summer holiday, so she was home from college. My kid had a summer job, but it was online writing HVAC articles. So, she didn’t have to leave the house, and instead worked out of my office. I, on the other hand, had long gone back to the office. During the pandemic, I had to turn an extra room in the house into a home office. I worked there for almost two years, but my boss said we had to go back to the office. So, I left the space for when I had work to do at home. My kid settled in well with her laptop writing HVAC articles for some local HVAC businesses. On this day, I told her bye while flying out the door, and got to work 10 minutes late. At around 11 am, she called saying there was something wrong with the air conditioner. My kid had been in the home office working to beat a deadline when she noticed the room was getting warmer. We had the air conditioner running so it seemed it had failed and the temperatures inside were rising. Since I was at work, I instructed my daughter to contact the area HVAC company for assistance. There was one I have a service and repair plan with, and they’d come to inspect the faulty air conditioner. My daughter got in touch with them, and two hours later an HVAC worker showed up to the house to fix the faulty air conditioner.

It had been such an amazing vacation, and we were happy to have found time to get away from the crazy city.

My partner and I have these friends who own a cottage in the mountains.

They charge for folks to stay there as a vacation rental type of arrangement. When we were thinking about where we wanted to go, we asked if the cottage was available. To be honest, they always have full bookings for most of the year no matter the season. But, we were lucky. A couple had canceled their two week vacation, and they said we could take the slot. That was exactly what we needed, to spend time in a serene location with amazing air quality. Then, it was time to get back home and to work. When we arrived, we noticed our cooling system had failed, and it was still June. So, we couldn’t ignore fixing the faulty cooling system until later. The best choice was to contact an area heating and cooling company for assistance. They sent a cooling expert to our home to inspect and fix the faulty cooling system. Come to find out a clogged drain line had caused the cooling system to fail. The cooling expert took her time removing all the algae, and also cleaned the cooling system. She also went ahead to replace the air filter, and our unit was back to normal in no time. We have plans to replace the heating and cooling system in our home, however that’s not going to be this year. That’s why we were happy the heating expert managed to repair our faulty cooling system.
