• That woman is stronger than anyone Kian has ever met, and she was a single mom.

She inherited this tiny property with a small house. That house did not have anything like residential Heating, Ventilation, & A/C, but it did have a wood stove. Kian’s mom even cooked on that stove. He is dating himself by these descriptions. Kian is now much older and his mom is 78. So given the fact that he is starting to slow down, he can’t imagine what his mom has been going through. However, she just did not want to come off that mountain and Kian has to understand that. He wanted to move her down south with him to a nice house with great air conditioning, but his mom refused. He lives an hour or many away so he can get to her. Still, he’s been looking for ways to make his mom’s life easier in whatever way he can. Thankfully, Kian succeeded when it came to bringing modern Heating, Ventilation, & A/C units into her house. She wasn’t sure about this at first however she’s also the first to acknowledge that she wasn’t constantly getting the stove lit and this was a problem. So, Kian had the local Heating, Ventilation, & A/C technician come in and install some ductless heat pumps. Now she has all the heating she needs and the wood stove is a backup. But she’s going to easily like having some AC because it gets sizzling even up in that forest.

This lady is as independent and free thinking as anyone we’ve ever met. Mom raised us herself. She inherited an old working farm with a tiny cabin. Mom had said no at first. However, she’s also the first to accept that she wasn’t getting the stove lit and it was causing issues. It is a chance to get to know the best brand in the market and purchase your favorite HVAC unit at affordable prices. My company sends a few HVAC professionals each year to showcase our company, what we do, and the new HVAC equipment in our inventory. This year, I decided to accompany my colleagues to the expo. We mainly focused on the latest market technology within the past five years. We brought some of the most popular equipment and accessories, like the wifi thermostat. It had been such a rainy week, but on the expo day, the sun was warmly shining, which made the day even better. I got a chance to interact with different customers. I even had an opportunity to sell some of the quality HVAC systems in our inventory. An elderly lady came to our stand and inquired about how she could get help with indoor comfort as she had no clue which device was the most suitable for her home. As an HVAC provider, I guided her on the best system for her home. I even assigned one of my HVAC repairman to handle the HVAC installation and help her schedule the necessary HVAC maintenance for the future. The expos are fabulous because we get to have more customers who come by the booth. That day we managed to sell quite a lot and gained even more customers. It was such a good day for me and our local business.

It had been so long since I had concerned myself with any matters related to the HVAC business that I wondered how many HVAC brands still existed or had come up. The other thing that I would keep working on was getting a smart thermostat. I had recently gotten a job that made the upgrade possible. Still, it also requires me to be away from home now and then, and I need to be in control of the heating and cooling of my house even when I am away, which leads to the urgency of visiting the local business. It also makes it possible to get back to a cozy home rather than getting home to a frigid house. It takes time to warm up a house after the HVAC unit is off for a few days. After the meeting, it was just a matter of two days until the HVAC repairman came to my house for the HVAC installation. After the process was complete, it took just an hour to experience the significant change indoors. It felt like I was living in a new house.

I decided to take Mirabel for a short getaway during the Christmas holidays. I booked a hotel room for us during our stay there. When we got to our suite, I discovered that the thermostat could not regulate the temperature well, and I decided to report to the management of the hotel. They promised to call in for HVAC maintenance. The temperatures there are higher than in our home area, and it would be favorable for us to be in a hotel room with a good HVAC unit to help with indoor comfort. I wanted this holiday to be a good one for my Mirabel. She was previously not feeling well, and I had promised to take her on vacation after she got well. The HVAC repairman came to check on it, and he informed us that it was damaged and hence they were going to install a new one. The HVAC professional also visited our suite to confirm the technician’s feedback. I asked the management to assign us a new room if no suite was available, but all the rooms were already full. The manager assured us he would visit a nearby HVAC business to purchase new HVAC equipment. Later in the day, the technician came for the HVAC installation, and with the help of the HVAC provider, they installed it. I noticed that the HVAC they installed was unfamiliar, so I researched it and realized it was the latest technology. There were very many different HVAC brands that offered quality HVAC. In the evening, the manager apologized for the inconvenience and confirmed that the new HVAC unit was working perfectly, courtesy of the local business.

Last week, the HVAC technician arrived right on time. He was cheerful and talked to us the entire time he was installing a new thermostat. He went downstairs to look at the furnace, and then we heard nothing from him. He was downstairs for almost an hour when my husband went down to check on him. The HVAC technician was sitting slumped over on the steps. My husband yelled up to call an ambulance. He thought the HVAC technician had a heart attack. It took half an hour for the ambulance to arrive, and we had the HVAC technician laying down with a blanket over him. His feet were elevated, and there was a small pillow under his head so he wasn’t laying on the concrete. The ambulance attendant told us he would take over, and they got the HVAC technician upstairs and onto a litter. He said the man had a heart attack, and he was taking him to the hospital. I called the HVAC company to tell them what had happened, and they thanked us for calling the ambulance. I guess some people wouldn’t have from how grateful they sounded. Two days later, I called the HvAC company to see if they knew how the HvAC technician was doing. They told us he was doing well, and he wanted to thank us for saving his life. I wanted to send him some flowers or maybe a card, but he was requesting there be no flowers. Two weeks went by, and we got a knock on the door. The HVAC technician was there with his wife. He wanted to thank us for saving his life.

New HVAC

During one of our recent snowstorms, the electricity was out for two days. When the power came back on, our furnace didn’t. That’s when I realized our phones had no signal, but the phone company was working on the problem. I had no way to call the HVAC company when our phones weren’t working. We drove almost fifty miles until we found a place where we had a signal. I called the HVAC company and told them what happened to our furnace. He asked if he could call back and give us an approximate time for his arrival. We sat in the car, fifty miles from home, and waited for the HVAC company to call back. Two hours later, they called. He said he didn’t have an appointment for two days, and that was at 3 PM. We took the appointment and thanked him. He said the HVAC technician would call when he was on the way. I was hoping we would have a phone signal by then, and I said that to the dispatcher. He sighed and told us to make sure we were home that day. He would let the HVAC technician know about the phone signal. If no one answered, he was supposed to just show up at the house. Two days later, my husband and I were sitting in the house, waiting for the phone call. When no one called by 4 PM, I called them. Whoever answered said they tried to call, but no one answered. I asked what happened to the dispatcher telling them our phones didn’t work, and all he could say was no one told them.

I know that after a while, the allure of a job can fade.

You no longer know if you want to stay in your job.

I felt that way about my job at the HVAC company. My wife told me I chose this career, and I had to stick with it. I shook my head and walked away from her. People were meaner than they used to be. No one wants to help themselves. Last week, an HVAC technician had a gun put in his face because he told the owner their furnace couldn’t be repaired. He told the HVAC technician that he either repaired the furnace or they would carry him out in a body bag. I heard of another HVAC technician who had a dog sicced on him for telling the owner he needed a new furnace. I chose to be an HVAC technician, and I chose to own the HVAC company. I wouldn’t have ever thought I would change my mind, and want to do something else. My wife and I sat down and had a serious chat. I told her how I was becoming disillusioned and realizing not everyone is glad to see the HVAC technician. There is an animosity that comes with the job, because some people feel they can name their own price. Many people don’t think they should have to pay, and will haggle over the price. Haggling is fine, if their price isn’t being forced on the HVAC technician. Let them call and haggle with me. I’m the one who gives the final determination on the costs of HVAC systems and repairs. My wife patted my hand and told me I can’t change the world, but I’m making some people’s world more comfortable.

The last thing I heard the dispatcher before leaving to get into my service van was, ‘take the dog out, or the HVAC technician won’t come in.

I have been bitten twice, and the second time, I almost died when a dog mauled me.

I refuse to go into a house if they have dogs that are running loose. It isn’t the dogs’ fault they are trying to protect their owner. I’m a stranger in their environment. It is up to the dog owner to protect the animal, so they don’t feel they need to protect. Whenever an HVAC technician heads to a customer’s house, the dispatcher will ask about animals and tell the owner the animals need to be secured. The two times a dog attacked me, the owners didn’t listen to the dispatcher. They said it was their house, and they did what they thought was right. I walked up to the door and had my HVAC ID badge on my shirt. The owner came outside and told me he had a dog. I told him I wouldn’t come in the house until it was secured. He said his wife was holding the dog, but I wasn’t satisfied. I could remember how I felt when another dog latched onto my throat. I apologized, but told him that if the dog wasn’t crated, or behind a closed door, I would not come in. He said he needed his furnace repaired, and I told him he had to secure the dog. This went on for ten minutes before I got back into my HVAC service van. He called the office to complain about me, but the dispatcher backed me up.

The manager assured us he would visit a nearby Heating, Ventilation and A/C business to purchase new Heating, Ventilation and A/C equipment, then later in the day, the supplier came for the Heating, Ventilation and A/C upgrade, plus with the help of the Heating, Ventilation and A/C provider, they installed it. I noticed that the Heating, Ventilation and A/C they installed was unfamiliar, so I researched it plus realized it was the latest technology. There were really multiple weird Heating, Ventilation and A/C brands that provided quality Heating, Ventilation and A/C. In the night, the manager apologized for the inconvenience plus confirmed that the new Heating, Ventilation and A/C device was working perfectly, courtesy of the local business.
