Trying to convince mom to buy a smart thermostat

Every day I go to school, my mom goes to work and when we leave we turn the thermostat off.

She is trying to conserve money and this is one way that she can do it.

She doesn’t make a lot of money working at the local grocery store but it’s enough to get us by. I know my mom is thinking about getting a second job which will stink because then I won’t see her as much and then I might be stuck at my aunt Linda’s house more often. My aunt Linda is a nice woman but she lives in a house that you would see on the show called hoarders. It’s absolutely disgusting. After school, she picks me up and we head home. Sometimes we grab a bite to eat but it doesn’t happen often and she rather cook because, in the long run, it’s cheaper. She isn’t wrong and I get it. On cold winter days when we get home the house feels like an ice box. It is so cold and I have to turn the thermostat on to give us a nice temperature controlled home. Recently I have been trying to get her to get the HVAC system updated and maybe install a Smart thermostat. Then when we leave school and work we can turn it on before we get home to be comfortable. She told me that she wouldn’t be able to afford to have the HVAC company send out a heating and cooling expert to install the device. Mom told me if she ever got a nice payday that is definitely something to think about.
