The HVAC and the ground temperature help heat and cool our home

Trying to live a life that is as sustainable as possible is a real passion of mine.

  • While I do it to minimize the impact on the earth, I’m also doing this as an example to my children.

I want them to understand and respect the impact of our lives on resources. Stuff like heating and cooling have an impact so they should be used respectfully and never wasted. We’re that way with everything in our lives. And I find that it helps us be a bit more mindful of our blessings and grateful for things like HVAC equipment. It’s easy to get caught up in our culture of disposability. This is a trend that I want to help end. So if I’m not doing my part, then what am I really doing? There is nothing more irritating to me than people talking the talk but not walking the walk. Even our HVAC equipment is the most sustainable option. We have a geothermal heat pump. This is heat pump HVAC technology that uses the earth’s near constant temperature for heating and cooling. Turns out the ground stays right around 55 degrees which is perfect for extracting heating and cooling energy for the house. That means way less energy has to be used to provide quality heating and cooling. Plus, a geo heat pump will last well over 30 years. So we are getting the maximum longevity from the HVAC equipment as well. I couldn’t be happier with the quality heating and air we have in our home. And the fact that it’s such a sustainable option fits right along with our personal perspective and approach to living life.
