The A/C broke at my school, so I am working from home until it is fixed

For 15 years, I have been working as a teacher, and I absolutely love what I do.

  • I teach middle school kids and over the years, my students have been the best.

Most of my old students that I taught have all gone to high school and by now, some have graduated from college. I would like to believe that I have a hand in their success. That is one of the greatest rewards of being a teacher. Being in the school system for over 15 years, I have seen a lot of students come and go. But I must say one of the hardest times was these past 2 years going through the pandemic and the quarantine. It was hard to transition to homeschooling kids, but it was something that I had to get used to. I loved that I was home working from the comfort of my home, but I missed seeing the students as well as the teachers. Now that we are back in school, I do miss working from home. Especially on days like this where the air conditioner stopped working in the building. We came in this morning, and it was quite warm inside and after some investigating, the maintenance man realized that the A/C was broken. He contacted the commercial A/C company, only to be told that it would be 2 days before they could have someone look at the unit. Apparently, there is a backlog of schools having air conditioning issues. Two days is a long time to have kids sitting in hot classrooms, so we decided to return to homeschool until the A/C is fixed. I am just glad that I am working from home once more, even if only for two days.
