Preparing our home and HVAC for our dinner guests

When my wife and I were expecting dinner guests on the weekend, we got a lot of rain on the day prior to our dinner night.

When we let the dog outside, he actually got muddy feet and then ran back inside and tracked mud all over the place.

This was after my wife just had the carpet shampooed and everything. She was freaking out saying that I should have cleaned the dog’s feet before letting him back in. This is not something I usually do, but I had to admit that mud being tracked everywhere was a problem. This was all happening while I was expecting the HVAC technician to come over to provide a tune-up to our HVAC system also. I was so busy anticipating the HVAC technician that I didn’t even think about the dog tracking mud around the house. Because my wife said it was my fault, she made me clean up the mess on the carpet. So I worked on shampooing the carpet again after I gave the dog a bath. The HVAC technician showed up as I was working on cleaning the carpet. He said it looked like I was doing a good job as I showed him to the HVAC unit. When he was done, I told him that he did a great job as well after he told me the condition of my HVAC system. He said the only thing to think about was getting the ductwork cleaned in a couple of months or so. I thanked the man and gave him a tip and then I got back to work finishing the carpet cleaning. The next time I let the dog out, I made sure to clean off his feet really good before he came back inside again. We had a really nice dinner date the following night with no more issues.
