The charcoal heating and ac filters aren’t just good for smells, they also absorb fumes, chemicals that are off-gassing from upholstery on furniture, and any toxins that could be in your indoor air as well. Those are the reasons why some swear by activated-charcoal-coated heating and ac filters.

My outdoor shed had no heating and cooling.

At first I thought that was okay. I only worked out there an hour everyday. I figured I could just time my workouts to be when the temperatures are good. Well it didn’t work out that way. The wintertime temperatures are so cold. There were no warm times. I ended up buying a space heater. I would pre-heat my shed for hours and it still was freezing cold. I needed to wear long pants and a coat the whole time. In the summer the lack of AC was horrible. My box fan didn’t do the job at all. I was a sweaty, gross mess. I then made the decision to get HVAC in there. I looked at portable HVAC units but I didn’t want anything wimpy. I wanted to have the whole space at the right temperature for once. It was a lot of money, but I don’t regret getting a ductless mini split. I now have heating and cooling. I have a smart thermostat that I can control from my phone. It isn’t necessary though. The thermostat has learned what I like to do. An hour before I begin my workout,the HVAC turns on. I then have a perfectly cooled or heated space when I am ready to work out. What is nice is that my husband is talking about building a shed for his woodworking hobby. If he wanted HVAC, he could easily hook onto my unit. We would share the same outdoor air compressor. All he would need to buy is the indoor air handler and the thermostat.

When I got pregnant I immediately started looking at my house with a critical eye.

I wasn’t pleased that I had so many breakables out in the house.

I removed them and put them all in the attic. I then cleaned my house from top to bottom preparing for my new arrival. I started considering my air quality. Did you know that the indoor air quality is significantly more polluted than the outdoor air? Did you know that most people spend 90% of their day indoors? I knew my child would be stuck indoors for quite some time since my due date was in the winter. I didn’t want to bring my child into a house with dirty indoor air quality. I started first by getting my ductwork cleaned by a professional HVAC contactor. I wanted all the hair, dirt and debris removed out of it. I also had him service my HVAC equipment. I wanted a HEPA filter, mold off my cooling coil and the condensate drain mucked out since there was algae in there. I feel better about how clean it is. The last step was adding an air purification plan. This removes smells and dust from the air quality. It was easy to have it installed right into my ductwork. As the HVAC operates the air blows through an air cleaner. Now my indoor air is as clean as possible. I need to change the air filter with the air purification plan and get it serviced like my HVAC equipment. I think it is worth it though.

Today was an exciting day! It is the day that I am having my brand new heating system installed.

• While I may be excited about having my brand new heater installed I can’t help but to also feel nervous about the entire situation.

I know logically speaking that the heating and cooling people are professionals that went to school to learn how to properly do their job. But I have heard of heating and cooling workers that don’t know what they’re doing and because of this they would mess up the installation process of somebody’s heating and cooling system. After how long it took me to pick out and save up money for this gas furnace the last thing that I want to have to worry about is there being some unexpected mistake! I expressed this concern to my husband and he told me that I shouldn’t worry and that the heating and cooling guys know what they are doing. The day of my appointment arrived so fast and before I knew it the HVAC technicians were out here and ready to install the gas furnace. They were very friendly and spent several hours working tirelessly to get the installation finished. After a very short 4 hours they were done and they showed me how to use my new gas furnace. I was so happy when I saw that everything was working exactly as planned. I went over to the thermostat and probably changed the temperature five times. I loved adjusting it and watching the temperature change. But my husband told me I should probably stop messing with it or I could risk our heating and ac bills.

Should I buy an electric fireplace? This is something I have been going back and forth on.

The truth is, that when it comes down to beauty I think that gas fireplaces are far superior.

The problem with gas fireplaces though is that they are more dangerous and I can’t help but to worry that I will make a mistake that will kill me if I get a gas fireplace. So I have been thinking about getting an electric fireplace instead. An electric fireplace is cheaper than a gas fireplace at my local heating and cooling company, they are not as dangerous, but I don’t think they are as pretty. So what should I do then? Should I go with what I want, which is the gas fireplace and just learn how to properly manage it, or should I go with an electric fireplace which is cheaper but isn’t what I really want? I have tried asking the local heating and cooling workers there but unfortunately they tell me that it is up for me to decide because both would work well in my home. I think what I am going to do is continue to research my options and learn more about gas heating systems before I commit to buying the fireplace. It isn’t a cheap purchase and If I am going to get it I want to make sure that I know what I’m doing. I do hope that I can find enough information to make an informed decision soon, otherwise it is going to take forever before I get a fireplace for my home.

• I am an a/c workman by profession, but I double with article writing here and there.

When my bosses at the air conditioning company discovered my excellence in developing an excellent concept for articles and short stories, they hired me to manage the copy on the website and other social media sites. When I started working in the indoor comfort business as a junior a/c rep, I wrote stories about cooling products on my blog sites. Though I kept the name of our customers and the company I was working for out, the stories still generated traction. Some articles that made it to my blog were about the air conditioning systems that hit the market every few months. Most professionals acknowledged that the stock of the new regulators ran out very fast. I also wrote articles to help homeowners know how to keep their dual fuel systems functioning efficiently throughout their lifespan. With my experience, I know more about a/c installs, and thus it warrants me to assist my readers in finding out how best to care for such a considerable investment. I also enlighten people on the best SEER ratings for different places. Many of my readers called to schedule a/c repair and maintenance. There were even some readers that followed the newly introduced units and other ways to achieve air purification. My favorite of all the air conditioning filters is the washable filter. My blog generated so much traction for the company as my readers rushed to increase and maintain the air quality in their houses. A/c care was now a thing.

When I returned from a/c repair at a customer’s house, I got a couple of missed calls from my brother.

Upon calling him back, I discovered he wanted my assistance to fix his noisy air conditioning system.

Since I was busy for the next two days, I assured him I would be at his house the evening of the second day. My brother is a nurse, and I own the local air conditioning company that provides services to the residents. For the next two days, I had to oversee the maintenance of the a/c install at the municipal offices. When I finished the second afternoon, I decided to visit my brother. I was surprised to hear his dual fuel system rumbling from the street. Fortunately, I had come with my team of a/c reps, and they immediately started with the a/c care. My brother and I caught up over iced tea while my senior a/c workman supervised the repair. The a/c filter needed replacing, while the significant unit had to have different parts replaced. By the time they were done, the air quality had started increasing. I ordered a washable filter to improve indoor air purification. As a company, we had manuals for different cooling products for customer use. The neighbors were grateful we dealt with the annoying sound disturbing their sleep for two days. My brother has quality HVAC equipment with good SEER ratings and promised to be keener on keeping a regular schedule for repairs and maintenance. By the end of the day, we had fixed the unit and had some time to catch up.
