Now that I work from home I started a beekeeping and honey hobby

When I was moved to remote work last year amid statewide lockdowns, I was unsure whether or not I’d like working from home. I’m a social person and sometimes I took advantage of my work hours to socialize with my favorite coworkers. Now that we work from home, the only socialization we all get is through an instant messenger. It was a huge surprise to me when I realized the other day that I actually prefer remote work and the feeling of peace I experience most days when things are too chaotic with my work agenda. One huge advantage to working from home is getting the chance to expand your hobbies. I have always been a musician, but recently I wanted to learn how to paint. I bought a kit from the store and started watching Youtube videos in my free time. I’m not Monet, but I am drastically better at painting than I was at the start. My most recent hobby is beekeeping and honey harvesting. I have four hives in my backyard that are almost always producing honey. Even though I probably make enough honey to sell it, I prefer to eat it myself and give the rest away to friends and family members. It’s nice making honey butter for holiday and birthday presents, especially for my parents who are obsessed with it now. I learned everything about beekeeping and honey from the internet and have never had any hands on help from another beekeeper. It has definitely been a trial and error process, but I’m happy with my bees and the delicious honey they produce.
