Learning about heating and cooling maintenance
I wish that back in high school and college, I’d have l received more practical things, but instead of memorizing facts about Pocohontas and George WA, I would have favorite to be taught how to write a common resume, balance our budget and change the oil in our car… Rather than spend endless seconds on the periodic table of elements, all of us should have l received more about handling household maintenance, however when I first bought our own home, I was totally clueless.
Between our parents and the landlords of our apartments, I’d never needed to think anything about replacing air filters, increasing the temperature control or draining the water heater.
I nearly started a dryer fire by letting the filter get completely plugged with lint. I wasn’t aware that there even was an air filter in the furnace until I wasn’t getting hardly any heat from the vents. I called for furnace maintenance and spent quite a bit of money for a worker to show me where the filter was located and how to wipe it. I called a plumber and paid a hefty bill because of a plugged aerator. I’ve now l received that I need to Google to manage essential maintenance and small repairs on our own. I just recently watched you-tube videos, took our cooling system apart and cleaned out the algae that was clogging the condensate drain. I saved myself from an lavish maintenance bill and wasting our morning babysitting a worker. While I had the cooling unit’s outer cabinet detachd, I took the occasion to wipe the fan blades as well.
