It was a good move to go for radiant heated floors
For quite some time, we were just using our fireplace and space heaters to keep the house warm in the winter. We never felt like we had any issues, but the heating bills were a little costly. Still, the more we relied on our fireplace, the lower we could make those heating bills. Eventually my wife asked me if there was a way we could look into whole home heating. She wanted a type of central HVAC system or something that would do the trick. I ended up calling the HVAC company and I had an HVAC professional come out for a free consultation. We went over different heating system options, oil furnaces, gas furnaces, heat pumps, and even radiant heated floors. I thought radiant heated floors easily sounded the best even though they were a little costly to have installed. When the HVAC professional was telling us what to expect with radiant heated floors, they sounded amazing. Even my wife was intrigued when he was talking about how the heating energy rises slowly from the floors which causes everything to heat evenly. He said you don’t waste a whole lot of energy like you do with a traditional ductwork system, and not to mention the ductwork is expensive to have installed. We didn’t even really have to think about it too much, we went for the radiant heated floors and we are loving them! I have never felt so comfortable during the winter and we don’t even have to use the fireplace all the time. This saves my back because I don’t have to split wood nearly as often.
