I looked for a few different problems

When there are problems with the air conditioner, it’s a really good idea to have a tune-up.

  • When a customer calls me and tells me that the air conditioner isn’t working, I always suggest we do a tune-up or maintenance service.

Sometimes a maintenance service will fix the problem if it’s something small like a clogged air filter or dirty evaporator coils. I always look for a few different problems before I take things apart. I look outside at the air conditioner and the housing unit. Leaves and debris can keep the system from properly working. I did not see any problems with mud or dirt near the outdoor compressor and air conditioner housing unit. I checked the air filter and it looked relatively clean. I checked the breaker and the fuses and those were fine as well. When I checked the blower motor, I realized that the safety switch had been tripped. When the safety switches are tripped, there is usually a problem with the fuse or the power. I checked the individual fuse at the back of the blower motor and it was not good. I had another one outside in the repair truck. As soon as I replaced the fuse, the blower motor came on. Unfortunately, there had to be another problem that was actually causing the safety switch to trip. The fuse doesn’t usually go bad for no reason at all. That required further investigation and taking the system apart. I wanted to make sure that I found the root of the problem before I gave the customer a bill.
