I didn’t know how to use the old heating system, but it still had serious problems when I learned
I felt pretty stupid when I moved into my last apartment. The place was kind of run down and it was surprising to me that the stove was also a heating system. Well, when I got to the winter season, I tried to turn on the heating system but it wasn’t working. It was so old that I thought it had to be fixed. Perhaps it needed a new part or something, I was unsure. Then the handyman came over after I called the landlord about the heating system issue. He explained that there was a pilot that had to be lit every year before the winter months arrived. I honestly had no idea, the system was too ancient for me to know anything about it. Of course, some heating systems do require a pilot light, and I should have thought about that. Well, that heating system still ended up breaking down even when the pilot light was lit. I didn’t have a very good time that winter as I was always calling the handyman to come fix the heater. I told him that the place needed a new heating system altogether. The landlord refused to make any heating system upgrades and after that first winter, I decided to just leave. The place I am living now actually has a heater with a pilot light as well, but it’s definitely newer and works so much better. This winter, I have been so much more comfortable and it’s nice not having to call people up every other week for heating system complications.
