I cooked fish and I can’t get rid of the smell

I started cooking a lot over the last few years because I couldn’t afford the rise in diner prices towards the end of the pandemic.

I understand that inflation caused everything to increase in price, however that still doesn’t mean I should use up large portions of my income just to support my preferred food eating establishments.

On top of that, all of this cooking practice has improved our skills overall. I went 6 weeks without cooking while I was traveling for a semester in school, and I remember coming back and messing up basic dishes that I had previously cooked dozens of times before. Can you imagine making a terrible batch of spaghetti after making it almost once a week beforehand? At least I’m far from those days now that I cook almost every single meal that I eat. While this inevitably leads to my home smelling amazing whenever I’m cooking something that tastes good, it also means that our home is going to smell gross when I cook something odiferous like fish. The fish aroma will permeate our a/c as the oils ventilate through our ductwork via our home’s indoor air. While it helps to use charcoal coated filters in the a/c to knock down on aromas, these are not perfect by any means when it comes to removing aromas from ones indoor air. That’s why I’m saving money to purchase a new vent hood for our entryway. That way the cooking oils that get into our home’s indoor air can go outside through the vent hood instead of through our Heating and Air Conditioning system.
