How an HVAC repairman helped me save on energy bills

When I first moved to my home, I thought I had a grasp of how I could save money in home management.

However, my HVAC unit soon humbled me.

I was sure the house had quality HVAC installed, so I was not worried about buying new HVAC equipment until after ten years. In my comfort and busy work commitments, I forgot to schedule the routine HVAC maintenance until I noticed that my HVAC was failing to help with indoor comfort, and my allergies resumed with a vengeance. I reached out to an HVAC professional sourced from the closest HVAC business, which according to my home contractor, had been in charge of HVAC installation when the house was built. The HVAC repairman inspected the unit and did the necessary maintenance for some of the components that had been neglected due to lack of servicing, then requested to meet with me. I was confused about the meeting since we had already agreed on payments with the HVAC provider, but I decided to spare time and listen to what he had to say. One of his recommendations was to keep up to date with maintenance if I wanted my unit to work efficiently. He mentioned that I was lucky that my equipment was from one of the best HVAC brands in the market, but negligence would wear it out sooner than expected. An explanation followed, an illustration of maintenance activities I could do on my own, and a list of those that needed a professional from the local business. To ensure that I remembered, we programmed the thermostat to send reminders for when each task was required to complete. It’s been two years since, and my energy bill has been constant.
