Hotel Employee Lets me Down

A year or so ago, back in the days when people could go somewhere without fear, I took a little road trip with my border collie.

I just felt like getting away for a day or two to keep from going stir crazy.

Anyway, it was a lovely little trip except for one thing: the air conditioning in the hotel I stopped at on the way home. After two days away, I headed for home, and I had a long drive ahead of me. I decided that if I got too tired, I would just extend the road trip for one more night and get a good night’s sleep at a little hotel somewhere on the way home. Well, I am a big baby about driving, and that is exactly what happened. In addition, my car’s a/c was not really all that marvelous, so the heat made me a little sleepy, as well. I decided to stop about three hours from home and get a hotel room for the night. I told the clerk that I was only looking for great air conditioning and quiet for a great night’s sleep. He promised I would have all those, so I rented the room. It was by no means a fancy hotel; it was just basic, but that was all I was looking for. But, the hotel employee let me down in one way. About midnight, I began to feel quite hot, and I looked at the a/c unit. It had tons of water beads busting out on it and the a/c air was not at all cool. It felt like a heater, in fact! I called the front desk to ask about the a/c, and that’s when I found out that the guy who checked me in had given me a room that was known to have a/c problems.
