He broke down as he chose a portable space heater
Winters are frosty and some people struggle with their heating units.
- Jeff never had a thermostat or any sort of heating system beside his portable heater.
This portable heating system was something Jeff needed on a frosty afternoon, about 2 years ago, when a stranger just bought it for him. This guy was in the disappointing shape Jeff was in and could tell he was basically freezing to death. He didn’t have much to offer and wasn’t a local resident but saw Jeff’s pain. Jeff remembers talking to him and he showed remorse and didn’t honestly know what to do. The afternoon he saw him is the afternoon Jeff stumbled into a store frozen and didn’t know where to go. His house didn’t have heat, he didn’t drive and outside the temperatures were about 8 degrees. He saw Jeff that afternoon and after thinking a bit asked him to follow him. This was a complete stranger and Jeff was a bit upset to follow such a fellow but he was in the store and what could happen, right? He took him to a part of the store that had portable space heaters. He said, “option 1, I’ll buy it as well so you don’t have to worry about paying me back.” He then said, “I’m just passing through as well as I can help you with something at least as well as I won’t take no for an answer.” Jeff fell to the floor weeping and picked one. He asked how far he lived and will take him home so he doesn’t have to endure the frosty walking back. Jeff lived about a mile from the store and he accepted. He knew he was a stranger but he was her saving grace.
