Getting a security system after a home invasion

My home was robbed during the middle of a workday.

Multiple residences on our street were burglarized on the same day.

The intruders ran through the home, grabbing items as quickly as possible. They managed to take several hundred dollars in cash, a laptop, an Ipad, Bose headphones and most of my jewelry. The loss of property was upsetting. However, the realization that a stranger had been inside every room in the house was far more stressful. I no longer felt safe in our home. I worried about what would have happened if our teenage daughter was at home by herself at the time of the robbery. I considered getting a dog. I then started researching home security systems. Because of wireless technology, a home security system installs without any remodeling or damage to the home. It can be updated to keep up with evolving features and opportunities quite easily. Plus, we were able to customize aspects of the system to suit our purposes, lifestyle and residence. I like that we now have motion activated lights and surveillance cameras surrounding the perimeter of the residence. My husband and I both receive notifications if anyone shows up anywhere on the property. We can lock and unlock doors by way of an app on our phone. Any unauthorized entry into the home, whether through exterior doors or windows, sets off a very loud alarm. If my husband or I fail to provide the security code, the local authorities are dispatched. I believe that the presence of the security system’s signs on the lawn are a deterrent to an intrusion.
