Doing it the old way
I had to use our stove to heat our house! I suppose that using your stove to heat your home is not a nice idea, however it was just one afternoon, so I thought that it would be perfectly fine, my entire neighborhood lost power for about twenty-4hours.
It was not that poor because both of us were told that it would happen ahead of time. While it is true that I was told that I would lose power ahead of time, I forgot about it. I am not the most responsible man in the world, and this proved it. I forgot to get a generator from one of our friends, so I was entirely without power for all hours of the day. My only source of heat was out, and it was only twenty degrees outside. I was so nervous that my pipes were going to freeze. I decided to try to use our stove for heat since it was a gas stove. I turned it on for an hour or so, and it entirely helped. I have a pretty small house, so that one stove kept our home above freezing. I was so blessed since I thought for sure I was a goner. My friend who provided his generator to me was out of our area, or I would have gone to his home and picked it up… Thankfully, our gas stove was a nice enough heat source to keep our home from freezing. All turned out okay in the end thanks to our stove. It was a wonderful little heating system although I would not recommend it as a first option. If I am ever desperate for a source of heat once again, I will certainly use our stove.
