Chilly water and boiling hot water heaters

I do my chilly water swim each afternoon to wake me up and put myself and others in a great mood.

I wouldn’t call it the most relaxing time when you immerse your fatigued body in the chilly 50F water in the afternoon, however if you just focus on how your brain feels, you will notice that it absolutely charges it up when you are in the chilly sea. I stay in for about 90 seconds and then come home and get into a boiling hot bath for about 90 more seconds. I do this the whole winter and I set our hot water gas furnace to the high heat setting on the thermostat so I don’t run out of boiling hot water in the bathtub. Proper thermostat settings can have a significant impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of your hot water heater. The thermostat is responsible for regulating the temperature of the water in the tank, and by setting it to the appropriate level, you can ensure that your boiling water is always at the right temperature, while also saving energy and reducing your weekly bills. The best temperature setting for most hot water gas heating systems is 122 degrees Fahrenheit (49 degrees Celsius). This temperature is high enough to kill bacteria and pathogens that can thrive in cooler water, however not so boiling hot that it can scald you or injure your plumbing system. In addition, setting your boiling water gas furnace to this temperature can help reduce the risk of mineral buildup and corrosion, which can cause injury to the tank and reduce its lifespan.
