A strong smell from cooking fish

I started cooking a lot over the last few years because I couldn’t afford the rise in diner prices towards the end of the pandemic.

I understand that inflation caused everything to increase in price, however that still doesn’t mean I should use up large portions of my income just to support my number one food establishments.

On top of that, all of this cooking practice has improved my skills overall. I went more than six months without cooking while I was traveling for a year in university, and I remember coming back and messing up basic dishes that I had previously cooked dozens of times before. Can you imagine making a poor batch of spaghetti after making it almost once a week beforehand? At least I’m far from those days now that I cook almost every single meal that I eat. While this inevitably leads to my home smelling amazing whenever I’m cooking something that tastes good, it also means that my home is going to smell gross when I cook something odiferous like fish. The fish smell will permeate my a/c as the oils ventilate through my air duct via my home’s indoor air. While it helps to use charcoal coated filters in the a/c to knock down on smells, these are not perfect by any means when it comes to removing smells from one’s indoor air. That’s why I’m saving money to purchase a new vent hood for my kitchen. That way the cooking oils that get into my home’s indoor air can go outside through the vent hood instead of through my HVAC system.
