Want whole house fan to work in new house

A few weeks ago my husband and I wandered into a house for sale, not knowing exactly what to expect.

We’ve already been searching for a new home for months, and the prospects haven’t been amazing so far.

It was easy to become disillusioned and defeated before even entering the premises of the new property, and we were certainly feeling downtrodden as we entered the foyer that day. To our complete amazement, the house was everything we expected and more! For once, the listing was accurate and fair, and we were getting a good vibe from this huge brick home. As we wandered upstairs, I saw something that thrilled me even more than the fantastic sunroom, updated kitchen, and hardwood floors… a whole house fan! You may not have ever encountered a whole house fan before, but trust me when I say that they totally rule. I actually grew up with this effective ventilation method, and have never seen another enormous whole house fan ever since we moved out of my childhood home 15 years ago. When we entered the top floor and I caught a glimpse of the flat ventilation panels in the ceiling, I shrieked with excitement. “Do you know what this is?!” I questioned my husband. He didn’t, and I soon gushed about the ventilation mechanism and it’s amazing ability to pull in fresh outdoor air from every window and door at once. This process effectively refreshes the house, providing cool and natural outdoor air with a negative pressure vacuum it creates. I was so stoked about this hidden gem that I was ready to pull the trigger, making an offer on the home right then. It was only after we flipped the switch, and realized the whole house fan wasn’t actually connected to a power source, that I calmed back down.
