The first year was a blanket warranty.
When we bought our new HVAC system, we had a full replacement warranty for the first year only. For the next two years, we received a partial warranty. When I asked what the full replacement warranty covered, they said it was a blanket warranty that would even allow us to get a new HVAC system for nothing should there be any problems. This sounded like a good idea to me, but I wasn’t a specialist on HVAC systems or warranties. All I knew was what my father said. You knew when the warranty ended, because the appliance broke down. I thought he was kidding, but I was soon to find out he wasn’t. We bought our HVAC system early in the fall, after we needed air conditioning and before we needed heating. They replaced all the ductwork, installed a new furnace, air conditioning unit, and an air purification system for the whole house. Two days after our warranty ended, the air purification system quit working. I called the HVAC company, and they sent an HVAC technician out to the house. He told my husband that we needed a new UV light, which we didn’t think would be too expensive, but the HVAC tech wasn’t done. When we turned off the air conditioning and were going without AC or heat, there was nothing to keep the air purification system running. It depended on the air conditioning or heating system to keep it running. I asked if it was possible to have it running independently, and he said the warranty was over and we would need to pay for that service.
