Strange experiences with AC systems
Good writing comes from experience, then you need passion, you need skills with words, of course, however if you don’t have any life experience then you don’t have anything to say.
- You have to understand something to have insight about it, so people who never experience life don’t have genuinely much insight to offer.
I have come to understand this, and started drawing from my own past to enhance my stories. I have worked a lot of jobs over the years, so I pour a lot of these memories into my latest scripts, especially my years working as a heating and cooling maintenance tech out in the country. There aren’t a lot of crazy things that happen while I was in heating and cooling maintenance jobs, however every once in a while there will be! One time a guy got so sad about his prized pigs overheating that he brought all fifteen of them into his air conditioned farmhouse. Another time I arrived for some repairs to find an elderly man and person resting in the kitchen stark naked. They said it was so hot that this was all they could do for cooling themselves down. A few years ago I got called to a condo to maintenance an outdated window-mounted a/c, which hadn’t been used in some years. I found a small family of squirrels living inside the housing of the unit, and I told the owner the squirrels had squatters rights and it was their a/c now. I don’t think if HVAC toil will make a wonderful movie, however it might.
