Starting a new cleaning service business
The past year has been a challenge.
I believe everyone has faced some changes.
The pandemic has created a lot of stress for a lot of people. While I appreciate my own and my family members’ health, I’ve still been impacted. I worked as a restaurant manager. The establishment was very successful and I enjoyed what I did for a living. The pandemic forced the restaurant to close and suddenly, I was without a job. After reorganizing my priorities, I decided to open my own cleaning service. This was a natural progression. Having been in the restaurant business for many years, I was very familiar in cleaning, organization and health code requirements. When I started to think about what I could do to earn a living, it just seemed as if a cleaning service made the most sense. I started out by posting online, offering a maid service for hire. This turned out to be a great way to get started. I offered carpet cleaning, floor maintenance and the full line of cleaning services. I was surprised by how quickly my maid service took off. Due to recommendations among business owners, I was quickly working full time. The money wasn’t quite as much as what I was making as a restaurant manager, but I was growing a business. I preferred the schedule and the freedom of having my own business. I have now expanded to a wide range of mostly commercial cleaning accounts. This has been really gratifying. I am now getting to the point where I need to hire additional help. It’s thrilling to have this cleaning service become the silver lining of losing my job. I’m thankful cleaning services are always in demand.
