My dogs are probably the most spoiled dogs on the planet.

I readily admit this fact, though, and hopefully that buys me a little bit of credit.

Ever since I got these dogs, it’s like they have been my little furry children. I know that this kind of thing is really annoying to a lot of people, but honestly, I think that it’s only annoying to people who don’t love their dogs quite as much as I do! The most recent thing that I have decided to do to improve my dogs’ quality of life is the fact that I’ve decided to install a special heating, cooling, and ventilation system just for them. I am pretty much set on doing this, although my sister and my mom keep telling me that I am crazy. They said that no dogs need to have their very own heating and cooling system, but I have to disagree. I feel like if the indoor air quality that I have in my house is great and I pay for it to be that way, then I should also be willing to pay for having my sweet dogs breathe the same great air. My mom and my sister keep telling me that I could spend my money on something else that would make more sense. However, to me, an HVAC system on the back porch where my dogs stay when I’m not home makes the most sense of all. I think I’m going to end up with something called a ductless mini split air conditioning system out there. I have an HVAC technician coming this week to give me an estimate.

Cooling technology

My dad called me up the other day and told me that he’s thinking about putting an air purification system in his house.

He’s been using HEPA filters in his HVAC system for a few years now, but he’s not really satisfied with the HEPA filters any longer.

He said that with all of the allergens going through the air right now, he just isn’t getting the outcome with the HEPA filters that he used to get a couple of years ago. I don’t know why that could be, but perhaps it’s just because of the wear and tear that he has been putting on his HVAC system. Maybe it’s just not working as well as it used to and that ends up making his indoor air quality less than stellar. He called me the other day and he told me that he was researching all kinds of different whole home air purification systems to put in his house. He said that he wanted one that would run in tandem with his existing HVAC system so that any time the heating or cooling system would start running, it would also make the air purification system run too. I thought that this sounded like a good idea because that way, he would never really have to worry about turning the air purifier off and on. It would just come on and run automatically. He thinks that he wants to get a UV light air purification system, so I think his indoor air quality will improve greatly once he has one installed!

I really want to get a UV light air purification system for our house. I’ve been reading up on it a lot lately, and I think that it’s the best way to improve the indoor air quality in the house. We have been dealing with all kinds of allergy issues this year, along with some other respiratory problems. I just feel like the best way to go about fixing these issues is to start at the root of the problem, which pretty much has to be the indoor air quality in our house. We have never had an air purification system in the house before, even though I’ve known about them for years. It wasn’t actually until my family doctor suggested that we talk to our HVAC technician about it that I really considered actually putting one in the house. Now, though, the more I think about it, the more I think that it will really improve the indoor air quality in the house for us. The best kind of all, in my opinion, is probably going to be something called a UV light air purification system. With a UV light air purification system, the air is purified not only by filtering out small particles of allergens but the UV light actually can kill bacteria and viruses. These days, that’s a huge plus! I am planning on calling our local HVAC company later this week so that I can get an estimate on having one installed. I think having better indoor air quality will improve our health all the way around.

 

Commercial air conditioning

We are going to buy a cottage somewhere out in the country, but we are looking for a cottage with a fireplace in it.

My husband and I are both thinking of retiring this year, but we want another house that we can go to whenever we want to relax and get away for a while.

We’ve been thinking about a cottage in the country for a long time. We like the idea of that much better than the idea of a beach house like some of our friends have purchased when they retired. However, the one thing that we both think is absolutely necessary in our retirement cottage is that it has a giant wood burning fireplace in it. We have always wanted to have a fireplace, but in the community where we have lived for the past 25 years, the home owners’ association wouldn’t allow wood burning fireplaces. You could only have gas log fireplaces and I wasn’t the least bit interested in having one of those. The whole point for us in having a fireplace in the house in the first place is the wonderful way that it smells when you light a fire. So we have our realtor on the lookout for us. If she can find the perfect house for us, it will have a high efficiency heating and cooling system, a whole home air purification system, and a wood burning fireplace. If we could find a place like this, I think that we would retire next week and spend the rest of our lives there!

My brother is a writer and works from home.

Sometimes I envy him for being able to do that type of work with perfect HVAC comfort.

He tells me it’s not as good as I think though. He says that he doesn’t like to crank the central HVAC system just to provide some cooling to his office. He said he could only do that if he had HVAC zone control but that’s too expensive for him to go for. He explained that he would rather wait to have his HVAC system upgraded before spending money on an HVAC zone control upgrade. According to him, he will be able to get a ductless mini split and then he will have multiple zones in his house with customized temperature control settings. In the meantime, he just uses a window A/C unit in his office to keep it a little cooler than the rest of the house. While it seems it would be nice working from home, I see that he’s stressed out a lot. He says he gets writer’s block all the time and sometimes he doesn’t know what to do about it. Seeing how stressed he is a lot of the time, I think I’m better off just working at the office doing the kind of work that I do. I think I’d rather keep my sanity than being home all the time with perfect comfort. I don’t know though, I think I would have to experience what working at home is like for myself before I could draw any conclusions with how I feel about it.

There was a time when I thought having an HVAC system that used ductwork was the only way to go. I always had my ductwork cleaned over the years and I would regularly have ductwork sealing as well. My HVAC did well over the years and the air quality was never too bad. When my HVAC unit was nearing its end, I was looking into the best options for HVAC upgrades. I was surprised when I saw how popular the ductless mini splits were. I didn’t entirely understand how they worked so I called an HVAC professional to speak about it. I learned that the units are hooked up to hoses that work very efficiently to transfer heat from one place to another. These heat pumps can push the heat out of your home through the condenser unit or pull the heat into the house and it goes to each HVAC unit as desired. It really is a remarkable HVAC system and I love the fact that it doesn’t require ductwork. It also saves you a huge amount of money because energy is not being wasted inside of the ductwork system. It really is amazing how far HVAC technology has come. I decided to go for the ductless mini split and it’s unbelievable how quiet the HVAC system runs. I love that I can have customized temperature control settings in every area of my house too, that’s a quality feature to have which saves you big on the energy bills. I’m really impressed with this new ductless mini split of mine.

For a very long time, I had to take the bus to work everyday.

There was this other guy who would always be at the bus stop the same time I was and we worked at the same building. While it was true we worked in the same building, we actually worked in different departments. So we didn’t really know each other very well apart from talking sometimes at the bus stop. Well, I was shocked one day when he was not there. I thought that maybe he was sick, but I couldn’t recall even one time when he called off sick from work. That was the same with me, it was just something that I never had to do. Then I was stunned when a car pulled up and then the window rolled down. It was my acquaintance from the bus stop in a really nice car. He told me to jump in. I did not hesitate! I was totally impressed by the car and the temperature control settings were amazing. It was such a better experience than riding the bus everywhere I had to go with its lousy climate control. He told me that he couldn’t stand riding on the bus anymore and he thought of me when he was on his way to work and he knew I would want to adjust the temperature control settings. He said that if I split the cost of gas to get to and from work, he would be happy to carpool with me regularly. I definitely couldn’t pass up on such a sweet deal. I hated resting at that bus stop especially on the really hot or chilly days. Now I would be able to relax with the perfect climate control settings back and forth between work and home.

I’ll tell you right now, my crew and I have a great deal of pride in our community.

• We ride our hogs all over town and we like to think that we add some sunshine to the place.

We make sure everybody is doing well and that nobody is taking advantage of people. Of course that’s a typical job for the police, but we take matters in our own hands from time to time. Well recently when some bikers came from out of town, they were being disrespectful at the bar. When they started talking about the temperature control settings being bad, that’s when I got in the face of their leader. I told him if he didn’t like our temperature control settings, they could make their way out of our town. That’s when he took a swing at me and I dodged and punched him square in the jaw. Everybody broke out into a crucial bar fight after that. This is not something we do all the time, but we will not back down from a fight. We whooped these guys good and they know not to be coming back in our town causing any problems. I can’t tell you for certain if they will be back or not, but if they do come back, we will be ready. No strangers tell our pals at the bar to adjust the temperature control settings. That’s like going into somebody’s house and digging through their fridge or their freezer, it’s just not your place to do something like that. Not unless you are a welcome guest.

If I’m honest about my biggest fears in life, I’ve been worried most about money.

I’m not from one of those situations that lets me relax.

And, lord, am I stressed out all the time. Especially about the air that I breathe. I mean, these days I think a lot of us are worried about air quality and air temperature control equipment at home. I freak out a lot about my immune system health, energy bills, and HVAC equipment expenses, and the threats are never ending. I feel like HVAC system improvement is all I ever think about these days, and I’ve already installed a ton of air temperature control devices to help remove unwanted contaminants. There aren’t new pieces of HVAC equipment to invest in, but I’m still not super confident with my heating, cooling, and air quality control system running in my energy inefficient house. It still feels like my air handling equipment stopped being able to combat the heat. Now, the outdoor climate is making its way inside, which is killing the entire central air handling plan. It’s easily been months of AC repairs and renovations from professional HVAC techs without noticeable air quality improvements. So, instead of worrying about a cooling system creating more cool air, I decided to try to contain the cool, treated air inside my little house more efficiently. One call to the local contractor, and I had a whole attic full of brand new insulation installed to contain my expensive air conditioned air. Finally, my cold air isn’t escaping and hot air isn’t penetrating my poorly sealed house. Since sealing up my home with extra insulation, I finally feel like I can live without worry.

 

 

Air cleaner

I love my family, but they also drive me totally insane.

I think sometimes we just can’t see eye to eye as adults because they still see me as being a child.

It’s infuriating to feel like I have grown up wisdom to offer, but no one to hear me out. At the same time, I realize that sometimes there are super simple solutions to repair things that aren’t working out, but no one wants to hear the opinions of someone else. They’d rather find out for themselves, the hard way. This is definitely the case around here when it comes to our daily comfort and energy expenditure… which is to say, our heating, cooling, and air quality control equipment sucks. When we moved into this house, the central heating and cooling system worked alright but it was on the way out. Now, we’ve been using an inefficient, dirty, and unreliable set of heating and cooling equipment that pleases no one – especially when our diverse temperature preferences are called into question. I have no control over the heating, cooling, and air quality control settings and my parents will always keep it that way. You’d better not say a single thing about how the air temperature setting contrasts with your own temperature needs. And don’t even bother talking about upgrading the HVAC units, themselves. This is why I’ve been telling my family about establishing zone controlled heating and cooling with the installation of smaller mini split ductless heating and cooling systems as a way to reduce our energy bills each month. It would also be a lot more comfortable for everyone to have their individual thermostat settings within reach. Not that anyone cares. Actually, it required my Uncle getting a mini split heating and cooling unit before my parents jumped on board… what a novel idea.
