All retirement homes should be regularly inspected for quality indoor air

I work as a nurse in a retirement home near my house, and it’s probably one of the most difficult, yet rewarding places I have ever worked. After spending years in the fast-paced world of the emergency room of our local hospital, I thought that slowing down into a retirement home would be easier on my mental health. It’s definitely slower paced, but I still experience stress and heartache on a pretty regular basis. I’ve learned a lot about senior citizens and the way these homes are run. When I used to visit my grandma in a retirement home, I remember noticing how cold and clear the air felt. Now that I work here, I know first-hand how regularly the air quality and HVAC system is inspected. It’s required that air conditioning maintenance be done every week at our facility to ensure the air quality is in tip top shape for our residents. Our immune systems weaken as we grow with age, so it’s very important that the air we breathe in is clean and sterile. Our usual air conditioning repairman replaces the air filters and tests our air purification system once every other week. I thought this was a bit excessive at first, but so many residents have respiratory issues, so it’s imperative that it’s done this often. Some people think that exposing our immune systems to mid-quality air would benefit them, but this is mainly true for children and adolescents. It’s difficult for our residents’ immune systems to become stronger with time once they have reached a certain age, so by the time they become a resident, they truly need the best quality air to remain healthy for the rest of their life.

In this case, disposable is much better

There’s no question that people care more about the environment in 2021 than they did decades ago.

Anytime you go out to the store, or even browse online, you will see numerous options for reusable everyday products such as Q-tips, water bottles, and even paper towels.

I do feel that there are plenty of ways to limit our waste and reuse more than what we throw out, however, I don’t think all reusable options are useful to us. I was recently presented with the system of washable air filters during our last HVAC inspection at our business. Since I am someone who studied environmental health and air pathogens, I don’t suppose this is the best route for our health! Even if you are able to scrub an air filter, there is no guarantee that all irritants will be removed. The average person washing an air filter would likely not know how to test it to make sure that it is 100% clean, or at least close to it, and disposable air filters are not a major area of the complication when it comes to human waste, so I don’t feel it is within the best interest of our health to switch to a reusable option. We need quality air indoors, especially because all the people spend most of their lives inside. A reusable filter opens the chance for mold growth if people do not properly scrub and dry it before reinstalling it. The drying time for the filter can be lengthy, and if you don’t have multiple washable filters in rotation, you may risk allowing pollen and other irritants into your beach lake house during that time. I’m an advocate for saving the environment, however not everything that we use needs to be a reusable option when it may be detrimental to our health.

Just buy disposable air filters

Compared to decades ago, people are starting to take the environment’s health into consideration more and more.

Anytime you go out to the store, or even browse online, you will see many possibilities for reusable everyday products such as Q-tips, water bottles, and even paper towels.

There are plenty of ways to limit our waste and reuse more than we throw out, but in my opinion, I don’t think all reusable options are useful to us. Disposable air filters don’t play a major role when it comes to human waste, so I don’t think it is within the best interest of our health to switch to a reusable option. Not everything should be reusable

We need quality air indoors, especially because most people spend their time inside. A reusable filter opens the opportunity for mold growth if people do not correctly scrub and dry it before reinstalling it. The drying time for the filter can be lengthy, and if you don’t have two washable filters in rotation, you may risk allowing pollen and other irritants into your lake home during that time. I’m all for saving the environment, but not everything we use needs to be a reusable option when it may be detrimental to our health. Some things could do more harm than help.

I considered calling the HVAC tech’s boss

Last night was the superbowl and our friends and I got really drunk! A lot of our friends and family celebrate the superbowl like it is a federal holiday, it’s not as if we need a reason to get drunk and act stupid.

But a football game is a great excuse! My friends and I drank a lot of beers last night and I was still drunk when I woke up this morning.

I had the day off work and I scheduled a HVAC tune up appointment first thing in the morning. I heard the alarm start ringing at 7 a.m. I hit the snooze button 2 or 3 times before I entirely got out of bed. I had a headache so I took a couple of Tylenol. The doorbell rang around half past eight. I was pleasantly surprised to see the HVAC professional arrive precisely on time for the tune-up service appointment. Unluckily, the HVAC professional smelled like booze. I think the guy was still a little drunk from last night, his words were a little slurred and he was swaying while he talked. He was talking about the football game and he told me that he lost a lot of money on a bet. The guy seemed to perform a thorough tune up service and he stayed busy the whole time he was working on the HVAC system. I thought about calling the guy’s boss to complain about his drunken demeanor, although I decided to keep it to myself. After all, the biggest game of the year was the previous night and I was still a little drunk too.

A great time to get drunk is watching the superbowl

Last night was the superbowl and my friends and I got drunk.

A lot of my friends and family celebrate the superbowl like it is a federal holiday.

It’s not as we need a reason to get drunk and act stupid. A winter football game is a good excuse, then my friends and I drank a lot of beers last night and I was still drunk when I woke up this morning. I had the day off work and I tied up a heating and air conditioning tune up appointment first thing in the morning. I heard the alarm start ringing at 7 a.m. I hit the snooze button 2 or 3 times before I really got out of bed. I had a terrible headache so I took a couple of Tylenol. The doorbell rang around half past eight. I was pleasantly surprised to see the heating and air conditioning worker arrive precisely on time for the tune-up repair appointment. Unluckily, the heating and air conditioning worker smelled like booze. I guess the guy was still a little drunk from last night. His words were a little slurred and he was swaying while he talked. He was talking about the football game and he told me that he lost a lot of money on a bet. I got drunk from watching the superbowl

Last night was the superbowl and our friends and I got easily drunk! A lot of our friends and family celebrate the superbowl like it is a federal holiday, and it’s not as we need a reason to get drunk and act stupid, but a winter time football game is a great excuse.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the heating and air conditioning specialist arrive precisely on time for the tune-up repair appointment. Unluckily, the heating and air conditioning specialist stinked like booze. I guess the guy was still a little drunk from last night! The HVAC professional was a little drunk

The doorbell rang around half past eight. I was pleasantly surprised to see the HVAC tech arrive precisely on time for the tune-up service appointment. Unfortunately, the HVAC tech smelled like booze. I suppose the man was still a little drunk from last evening. His words were a little slurred and he was swaying while he talked. He was talking about the football game and he told me that he lost a lot of money on a bet. The man seemed to perform a thorough tune up service and he stayed focused the whole time he was laboring on the HVAC system. I thought about calling the guy’s boss to complain about his drunken demeanor, though I decided to keep it to myself. After all, the biggest game of the year was the previous night and I was still a little drunk too.
