New home is hot upstairs, insulation
I know I should not be surprised.
I easily should expect this, and should have no setback feelings about this fact.
However, I can’t help but to feel disgruntled and defeated with this most recent development. What’s going on, you ask? My upstairs level of my dwelling is ungodly hot. Again, then yes, I have lived in a dwelling with a similar floor plan before, and yes, the hot air accumulation upstairs was exactly the same. I know I was naive to feel that our air quality would be any unusual in this current home, but I guess I fell victim to wishful thinking! Rather than entering our brand current dwelling with the acceptable expectation that our upstairs bedrooms would regularly be ten degrees warmer than the rest of the house, no matter the control component settings, I honestly hoped that a higher quality cooling system and dwelling construction would circumvent this air quality nightmare. Well, dreams don’t regularly come true. It turns out that our top floor is just as hot and humid as could be. Sure, it doesn’t help that our A/C component is well over 10 years old, but I’m also pretty sure that the lack of attic insulation isn’t helping our cause either. Whenever the dwelling inspector stuck his head up into the attic, he let us know that that present insulation was in bad shape. There was little heat being trapped inside or outside of the dwelling with the 2 inches of outdated insulation present, and he recommended my superb friend and I have it replaced instantly for energy efficiency. Well, my superb friend and I had superb intentions in demanding that the seller replaced the insulation, but they had their own ideas about energy expenditure; By that, I mean they spent as little energy as possible to install yet another layer of bad quality insulation. Now the dwelling is all ours, and our top floor is still as hot as ever.
