As with most air conditioning units, we have a dehumidifier in the system.
Before we had central air conditioning installed, we were always running portable dehumidifiers.
Without the dehumidifier, I would wake up with frizzy hair and it would take me half an hour to make it look decent for work. Once we had central air conditioning installed, we didn’t have a problem with humidity. We slept well at night and I didn’t have frizzy hair. Then last week, I knew I had a problem. Not only was it hot and uncomfortable in the house, but my hair was frizzy. My husband laughed at me when I went into the kitchen. He asked if I had put my finger in a light socket. I was livid and asked if he hadn’t noticed the air conditioning was not working? He said he had been outside working, so no he didn’t notice. Once he sat down to relax, the lack of the sound of the air conditioning unit was quite noticeable. He called the HVAC company, but he couldn’t help but laugh at my hair. The HVAC technician was supposed to be there by the end of the day, but the humidity was going to take a while before it went away. I told him I didn’t appreciate his humor and walked away. I returned and let him know that this was exactly the reason I wanted to have a portable dehumidifier in the house. He said he would rather have a portable air conditioning unit that took the humidity out of the house..
