I used to break ankles on the court

I used to play a lot of basketball when I was a youngster.

It was always a good time and I was regularly practicing my new moves on the court.

I came up with all kinds of impressive moves to dominate the game and I could even jump high for my age. The only thing that made me feel embarrassed sometimes was the fact that I had shoes that were passed down from my older brother. The shoes were not in bad condition per se, but everybody who knew my brother knew that those were his shoes before. I begged my parents for some really nice Nike shoes and they said no for a long time. But eventually on my birthday they got me those as a surprise present. I was the happiest kid alive and I immediately strapped up and laced my new shoes to go out there and impress the people with my moves. I was shaking people left and right, breaking ankles pretty much. Well, I ended up coming close to breaking my own ankle when my foot twisted the way it shouldn’t. I couldn’t walk and I ended up having to go to the hospital. What I remember about the hospital is that it was freezing cold with the air conditioning system cranked up too high. I asked my parents to please tell those people to shut off the A/C system. I learned they wouldn’t adjust the temperature control settings because of some ridiculous hospital policy. I think those people were just enjoying the A/C system too much. When I finally recovered, I was thankful to be out of the freezing hospital and I was very careful when I got back on the court.
