I didn’t know what I wanted for dinner
My husband called about an hour before he was to arrive home from work, and he told me he was bringing company home for dinner.
I took a deep breath and asked who he was bringing home with him.
I was thinking it was just a coworker, whom I didn’t care if I was serving them my meatloaf. He told me he was bringing home six coworkers and his boss. I was so upset that I could have screamed. I told him I didn’t have enough food for another seven people. He told me to order dinner online. I nodded and sarcastically yelled, “Order dinner online! And what would you like me to order?”. His, ‘umm’, didn’t help one bit as I was so angry. He said it would be simple to just order dinner online from any local restaurant. He did not know what it was going to cost to order dinner online for ten people. I worked at a restaurant and I was well aware of the cost. Then he added I shouldn’t forget to order dessert online while I was at it. I found the nicest restaurant around that would allow me to order and have it delivered. I bought surf and turf for everyone, a couple of vegetarian meals and two vegan meals. I then ordered a trio of their best desserts so everyone had a choice, and an entire cake. The impromptu dinner party was a success until my husband saw the cost of all the food. I told him it was going to be expensive to order dinner online.
