How do you get your furnace blowing hot air again?

There are several reasons that could make your furnace blow cold air.

And to make it blow warm air again, you will need to troubleshoot your furnace.

Begin by checking your thermostat and make sure the setting is set on “auto” and not “on.” Also, check and set the temperature to 5 degrees above the room temperature. This will help start the furnace. Your thermostat should also display the right tim+e. You will also need to trace the wires from the thermostat to see if there are any wire breaks. If you find a wire break, splice them together and wrap them with electrical tape. Check shut-off switch and circuit breakers as furnaces have safety features that switch the unit off when it gets hot. Look for a standard wall switch near the furnace and fully depress it to operate again. If you have an oil-fired furnace, you may need to refuel the burners to light and produce heat. A furnace with dirty air filters may also shut down as the blower will not have enough air, which causes the unit to overheat, shutting down the burner. Change the air filters and turn the unit on again. You should also check the gas valve to see whether it is on or off. Turn it on if it is facing the off position. A blower motor that is not closed correctly will not turn on as the safety device will prevent the furnace from turning on. You will need to shut the blower panel properly for it to resume working.
