Getting my mother a security system

My mother turned 81 years old a couple of months ago.

She remains very independent and physically active.

She goes out to lunch with friends, attends town board meetings and is active in the community. She had no problem driving to the mall to shop, mowing her lawn, weeding her gardens or spring cleaning. I make sure to call her everyday, and I frequently stop at her house. She regularly invites my family to dinner and I include her in our various plans. Although my mother is very spry and healthy, I worry about her. She lives alone and could become a target of a home invasion. Because of her many projects and tasks, she could easily fall and get hurt. I wanted to feel confident that she’d get immediate assistance in the event of an emergency. After some research, I decided to buy her a home security system for Mother’s Day. It took her a while to familiarize herself with the operation of the system. At first, she kept tripping the alarm and forgetting how to enter the code. I’d get a call from the monitoring company asking for the password. However, the security system is wonderfully user-friendly and my mother is now comfortable with it. She likes that when someone pulls into her driveway, she gets a notification. She can watch real time video on her ipad and see who it is. She can even converse with someone standing on her front step without opening the door. I like that she has a panic button that she can push if she’s ever in trouble.
