Fixing up my parents with new HVAC
So when my folks got home, there was a new heat pump
My parents can be so dang stubborn. They have given so much to their kids. So it’s time that we are able to give back to them. But that’s so much easier said than done. In fact, it takes some chicanery just to get some stuff to our parents. This was true with a recent HVAC dilemma. The HVAC equipment at my parent’s house is at least 25 years old. I can remember when they replaced the heating and cooling equipment and it was a long time ago. It’s been overdue for an HVAC upgrade for years now. The HVAC equipment is nearly constantly breaking down and it’s costing mom and dad a fortune in repair bills. So my brothers and I decided to replace the heat pump for them. But they weren’t having any of it. Even though they are on a very fixed income, they were adamant that they could pay for it. They just needed a few more years to save up. We explained that with all the HVAC repair, they were swimming against the tide. So I got the HVAC contractor to meet me at their house while they were at church. He did the inspection and everything checked out. The ductwork was good and all we needed to do was replace the heat pump. Next, we got one of my brothers to take then on a quick trip for a few days. This is when we had the HVAC company come in and replace the heat pump. They were in and out of there in a day. It worked like clockwork. So when my folks got home, there was a new heat pump. It was bought and paid for and there was nothing left to say about it.
