Ductless heat pump is the right fit for renovation project

After our numerous teenagers were born, the condo got a bit cramped… We needed to figure out the easyst way to add to our square footage.

We decided to turn a rarely used screened in porch into another home office, it wasn’t all that difficult to frame in the walls, install windows & installation & extend the electric wires, and the biggest dilemma was how to handle temperature control.

We live in an area that sees Winter time temperatures down to twenty below zero & Summer heat up into the high eighties, then heating is a necessity & cooling is absolutely an advantage. The main condo is equipped with a central oil furnace & air conditioning that utilizes HVAC duct connected to supply & return vents in each room. To include the new home office, the two of us would have needed to continue the duct system. This would have considerably raised our costs for labor & materials, lengthened the completion time & caused a lot more disruption to the home, but plus, HVAC duct takes up quite a bit of space. We unquestionably didn’t have any extra square footage to spare. There was also the problem that our current oil furnace & air conditioning would fail to keep up with the added workload! After looking into all odd options, the two of us decided to invest in a ductless heat pump. The unit is especially compact, easy to install & provides both heating & cooling capabilities. An outdoor compressor partners with an indoor air handler & requires little more than a tiny hole through an exterior wall, access to electricity & mounting capabilities. The ductless heat pump is beautifully quiet & energy efficient & keeps the room perfectly comfortable all year round.
