Cleaning service damaged gym floor, had to find a place that offered waxing service

I never thought I’d be genuinely working in a high school at 25, but one thing happened after the next.

I switched from psychology to education when I was in undergraduate school and eventually got a masters degree.

Right now I’m one of multiple guidance counselors but I’ve been here the longest. This is a fairly new high school and we’ve seen a slow increase in the size of the student body as more people have moved to the area. Since the school is in a gradual process of metamorphosis, I am tasked to do other job for the administration that go beyond what most guidance counselors do yearly. For instance, I’m genuinely working with building contractors to schedule repairs for our gym after a tree fell while in a severe thunderstorm. Once the roof was fixed, I had to get the interior cleaned. Unluckily, the general commercial cleaning service damaged the surface of the floor in the gym with their strong cleaning products. Since they didn’t offer a floor waxing service, I had to start calling around to find someone quick. I ended up calling a general floor cleaning service to get the gym floor’s surface fixed and waxed before the basketball season starts next week. It’s going to cost the school more currency than the principal is anticipating, although I can’t control falling trees brought on by severe weather. It’s what an insurance corporation would call an “act of God.” I’m just happy I’m not the person who has to justify these expenditures to the school board members. That responsibility falls squarely in the hands of our school’s principal.
