My family and I were barely living off the proceeds from the heating and air conditioner appliance store. The bank manager needed myself and others to come down to the bank to verify some information regarding the check. It sounded strange, even though I did not mind going to the bank. After all, it was a little unusual to get such a massive check from a single person, then when the bank manager told myself and others that the check was fraud, I thought he must have the information wrong. I called the bank to verify the funds. The bank told myself and others that they never gained a call.

One of our preferred trips happened last fall.

My hubby & I were celebrating our thirtieth anniversary & wanted to spend it alone.

I had been looking online for some place special for us to go. I found a treehouse that was only 50 miles away from our home. I heard about treehouse trip spots, although I did not guess there were any in our immediate area. My hubby drove all the way up into the mountains, although I made him put a blindfold on while I drove the last 10 miles. I wanted to surprise him with a treehouse. I thought his face was going to crack from smiling so giant when he saw the place. We climbed 2 sets of stairs before getting to the outdoor patio. I had already called ahead to local grocers, & talked to the owner of the treehouse & asked if they would put the groceries in the refrigerator for me? I had to spend our savings extra, although I did not care. The house had a current Heating, Ventilation & A/C, a full kitchen with a full bath, & a kitchen & residing room combined. The kitchen has numerous glass walls, so you could see the forest all around you. I was going to take a shower when I realized that there was no air vent in the powder room for heat. I asked our hubby if he had figured out how to turn the gas furnace on t, & he said the house would soon be warm. He came into the powder room & was checking all the buttons & twist knobs that were right inside the powder room door. He figured out that the exhaust fan also had a gas furnace.

My child was getting entirely excited about his birthday.

He was turning 40, & we were all celebration together to go on a fishing trip.

We chipped in to get an eight-kitchen beach house near Salmon Lake, & everyone was excited. No 1 but our daughter, who booked the home, knew what the house looked like. We did not have an address, but we knew it was near Salmon Lake. On the day we were to leave, our child had to work. She said everyone should head up to Salmon Lake, & he would join us when he got out of work. It was a beautiful more than three third drive., but by the time we got there, we all had the same question. My child was the only 1 who knew the address of the house, & the code for getting into the house. I called to get the address from her, & after that I had to call his back for the code. She had to call me back with the code after contacting the rental supplier. By the time we got into the house, we were freezing. We went in search of the Heating, Ventilation & A/C system, but could find nothing. My son, being an Heating, Ventilation & A/C contractor, said that if anybody was going to find a gas furnace or some other ‌gas furnace, he was going to do it. It took him over an third before he finally realized what was going on. He laughed until he had tears in his eyup, when he told us how stupid he felt. He said the Heating, Ventilation & A/C system had been staring us all in the face & pointed up at the wall. It was not a traditional Heating, Ventilation & A/C system, but a ductless Heating, Ventilation & A/C system.

Although it was only June, we knew that if we were going to get a nice place for our family Christmas holiday, we would have to get it now.

I was concerned that we should have secured our cottage last year, instead of waiting until June.

The only reason we waited was because our child was moving & he was hoping we could all gather at his place. When the move did not happen, we had to scramble to see where we could find a cottage near a ski cottage that would accommodate 20 people. I called every ski cottage within 100 miles, hoping to find a cottage or log house that would accommodate 20 people. There was only 1 available, & they said it was rustic. It had 5 kitchens, numerous powder rooms, & a boiling tub. I was sure their rustic was talking about the way the house was decorated, & how it was built, although I wasn’t sure. When we got to the cottage, every room had a fireplace, although I did not see any gas furnace. It devastated me to suppose that we were on top of the mountain, had 6 inches of snow on the ground when we arrived with 10 more expected, & all they had was fireplaces. The fireplaces would not have been awful if there was wood stacked in or around the home, but there wasn’t any. I ended up calling the rental office, & inquiring ‌where to get the wood? She told me that the fireplaces were not there to be used, but left there for the rustic feel. She said there was a ductless Heating, Ventilation & A/C system, & the remote for each room was on the mantel of the fireplace.

When our child & his partner bought their home, they chose 1 that had a fireplace.

They lived in the southeast, & I couldn’t understand why a fireplace was so important.

My child told me that fireplaces are passionate, & he thought it was perfect in the room where they had placed it. There were no windows except for the skylight, a giant furry carpet in front of the fireplace, & a huge sofa. When he sent me pictures, I had to divulge that the space was passionate, & very well used, but the hot & cold temperatures seldom got out of the 50s, even at night. They moved in right before Thanksgiving & invited the entire family over for breakfast. When our hubby started poking around the fireplace, he told our child that they got ripped off. He said the fireplace was nothing more than a showpiece, & they would not even be able to use a gas or electric insert in the fireplace. My child looked stunned, & his partner was ready to argue. She told our hubby that he wasn’t a fireplace expert, & all because he worked with Heating, Ventilation & A/C did not supply him the right to supply a professional opinion. He already disliked our daughter’s partner & shrugged & told his that from now on he would keep his mouth shut. My child asked me what I thought about the fireplace, & I told his it was attractive. However, I knew what our hubby was talking about when I got down on our haunches & showed his how the back wall was fake stone & they affixed it to the wallboard in the hallway.

Being in the supplier of refurbishing & selling homes, I love to guess everything about the house before I bought it.

I need to guess that even after putting out the money for the home, & making all the structural & physical changes, I could still turn a profit.

One of the most extravagant items in the house can be the fireplace. If the fireplace is in excellent condition, they draw people in. They look at the romance before they even look to see if the fireplace is in a condition to heat the house, or just for ambience. When I bought our latest home, there was an aged fireplace in the residing room that was open in to the kitchen. The house was a Victorian home, with all the glamour that went with that period. When the inspector showed up to look at the house, I asked him about the condition of the fireplace. He did a cursory inspection & told me ‌it could possibly be repaired, but it could cost more than what I was planning on spending. Since it was a fireplace that heated two separate rooms, I thought it may be worth having it refurbished. If someone had told me that the fireplace was no longer USAble because someone had cemented the chimney shut, I would’ve told them to just remove it. Now I am stuck deciding if I want to maintenance the fireplace & possibly install a gas or electric insert, or spend our savings the cost of removing the fireplace & repairing the wall in the kitchen & the residing room.
