We’ve got a mountain lady for a mother and we wouldn’t trade that for anything in the world.
This lady is as independent and free thinking as anyone we’ve ever met. Mom raised us herself. She inherited an old working farm with a tiny cabin. That cabin did not have any residential Heating, Ventilation & A/C. However, it did have a wood stove. Mom even cooked on that stove. We’re honestly dating ourselves by these descriptions. We’re now in our early sixties and our mom is 88. So given the fact that we’re starting to slow down, we can’t imagine what our mom has been going through. However, she just does not want to come off that mountain and we have to understand that. We planned to move her down south with us to a nice beach house with superb air conditioning. But mom refused. We live an hour away so we can get to her. Still, we’ve been looking for ways to make our mom’s life easier in whatever way we can, and now we’ve succeeded when it comes to bringing a new Heating, Ventilation & A/C system into her cabin. Mom had said no at first. However, she’s also the first to accept that she wasn’t getting the stove lit and it was causing issues. So, we had the local Heating, Ventilation & A/C specialist come in and install 2 ductless heat pumps. Now, mom has all the heating she needs and the wood stove is a backup. But she’s going to appreciate having some air conditioning because it gets warm even up on that mountain.
