Different Temperature Needs Throughout The Day

I adjust my thermostat pretty frequently.

As someone who works from home full-time, I’m using my cooling system all day, every day.

The first thing that I do when I get up in the morning is change the temperature on my thermostat from 71 to 76. I like to sleep in a cold room, so my A/C system gets cranked down very low before I go to bed each night. Luckily, my house is well-insulated, so the temperature slowly increases throughout the day. The cooling system usually doesn’t kick on until the afternoon, when the bright sunshine warms up the house. When I leave the house to pick my children up from school, I turn the thermostat up to 78. Since I’m not there, the house doesn’t need to be cool, and pickup duty can sometimes take quite a long time. When my children and I return home, I turn the thermostat down to 74 to accommodate the extra people in the house, and to keep myself cool while cooking dinner. Feeling the cold air coming out of the vents over my head is more than pleasant while I’m toiling over the hot stove or pulling food in and out of the oven. And, before I go to bed, I turn the thermostat back down to 71. If it’s not a bit chilly in my bedroom, I can’t sleep! Luckily, my kids don’t mind my generous use of the cooling system at night, and the white noise from the cooling equipment helps lull them to sleep, or so they report. Adjusting the thermostat in my home throughout the day is a must so that I can stay comfortable and productive!
