Before moving into our home, my husband realized we were going to be in need of an up to date HVAC system.
We knew this was a possibility, since we were moving into the home his grandparents once lived in.
Before they moved into a senior living community, they signed the house over to my husband. They didn’t want to see it being sold at auction. We called a local HVAC company who was advertising free quotes for the installation and purchase of a new HVAC system. We actually put in phone calls to three different HVAC companies requesting free quotes, so we could compare. The first two HVAC companies were out of the area, and their prices were so far out of line that we knew we would not be working with them. When the HVAC technician from the local HVAC company showed up, he did measurements and everything that an HVAC tech was supposed to do. The only thing he didn’t do was the free quote. He had all the paperwork written up for the tonnage of air conditioning unit we needed, the furnace, all the new ductwork, and for a whole home air purification system complete with UV light. My husband asked him where the free quote was? He told my husband that since they were the only HVAC company in the area; he didn’t think we would talk to other HVAC companies and just assumed we would make the purchase. My husband was not happy with this assumption and called the HVAC company. We already knew we would use their services, but the HVAC technician wasn’t giving us a chance to make our final decision.
