I have been doing business with the company so long and have come to know the employees so well that they have given me the top tier of benefits in their rewards program and membership.

This includes the kind of benefits that employees from the company receive. The particular rewards offer that I recently took advantage of offered 50% off any type of HVAC service if it was the sixth HVAC visit within one year. As you would expect, I did my best to manipulate this offer to my advantage. I called the HVAC company in for things throughout the year such as duct cleaning and preventative, routine maintenance. Then, when it came time for me to upgrade my furnace, I made sure that it would be the sixth time I called them out that year. To be honest, I had not discussed the finer details of this offer, so I was not entirely sure if a complete furnace replacement was part of this deal. When I explained the situation to the HVAC technician that came out to help me choose a new furnace, he called his manager, who affirmed that I would be getting 50% off the total cost of replacing my furnace! What an incredible deal. My HVAC company definitely knows how to treat customers that have been loyal to them for a long time. I’m very excited for this offer and I know I will have to choose my new furnace carefully!

I am home now after taking a very cold dip in the sea.

The sea temp is now 62F, which is not as cold as it is in February where it gets down to 52F, but cold enough to rattle me a bit and charge me with some good energy.

I like to take a dip each morning to wake up and to also help with the pain in my joints. My knees are a bit sore from a bunch of hiking we just did in the mountains, but other than that my body is doing well. The radiant space heater of mine is right now next to me and I feel pretty warm now as it propels the heat towards my body. I plan on finishing my writing over the next hour or so and then I am going to do a bit of yoga and figure out what to make for dinner. I think the HVAC system is going to have to run most of the day today as the furnace really heats up the place well on cold days like this. I am trying not to run it too much but the temps outside are warranting the use of it for most of the day. We now have three cats in this flat and they like to lie next to me when I work to help keep them warm. They are like mini space heaters when they lie on my lap or chest when I work. We need to work on getting them acquainted soon as the third cat is a new one.

I feel better about running the heating now as my power bill is much lower than the last one. I am running the heating a bit more than I was before getting my most recent bill. I thought it was going to be much higher, but apparently the power companies lowered the electric rates because a lot of people couldn’t afford to pay their bills. Now we can run the central HVAC system without worrying about high power bills coming down the road. I have a flatmate now and I also feel better about my bills as she is now paying half of what I was trying to pay myself each month. She is a chef at this local business down the road and said she plans on staying with me for a long time, which is great because she is clean and quiet and is gone a lot working at her job. I am going to clean the furnace filter today and maybe try and clean the ductwork a bit later this week. We are going to make a nice dinner tonight and hang out in the living room, which happens to be the warmest room in the flat because of all of the vents in the room. My bedroom and her bedroom are the coldest rooms, but we both like to sleep in colder rooms so it works out perfectly. We closed the vents in each room so they stay cool and so that the central heating device warms up the living room and kitchen faster. It is all wonderful!

I just got back from the mountain trip last night and am now settled back in my flat for the next five days till I leave again on another trip back home to the States.

• I have just enough time to relax for a bit and then I am going to be packing again for the big trip over the Atlantic Ocean for a few weeks.

I am going straight to my mom’s house when I land and will stay there for a few days before going to my aunt’s house for the remainder of the time. Her HVAC system is broken right now so I am going to have to try and help her fix the furnace so we have some heat in the home. I think it broke down a year ago and she hasn’t had the money to get it repaired. I am a certified HVAC professional and I told her I would help her fix it once I arrived if she hadn’t already got it fixed. I think I know what the problem is but I will have to take the thing apart to see if that is the issue. I believe it is her electric heat pump that is broken and I plan on replacing it with a geothermal heat pump so that her heating bills will be lower each winter. I just got my electric bill and it was $165 for two months, which is much less than the monster bill I got two months before for $610. I guess they realize people won’t be able to afford heating with the old rates.

Been back to work for a few days now and my boss Pedro brought me into his office.

• There must be something wrong in his office because it is so hot in there! I felt like there were pebbles of water starting to formulate within seconds of being in there.

This is probably why he is not here often. First words from his mouth were don’t worry I have a HVAC professional coming out tomorrow to see why my office is extremely hot. He then proceeded to tell me that he knows that it’s been rough for me the last bit and he was going to do this sooner but he said “how’d you feel about running this place?” He said you’re basically here doing everything all the time and are great at it. This is the best news I have ever had. I said “yes” because I love this place and you have been great to me. We both smiled and I left his boiling office. Within seconds my phone rang and it was my uncle Tyler. He was brief but basically asked if I wanted to move to the west coast permanently and that my mother and 2 cats could come as well. He told me that I don’t have to worry about expenses for a bit as well as my mother and we can stay in the guest house. I remember the guest house, it was beautiful, the smart thermostat was amazing. This can go a long way of getting my life back together. Pedro has been so good to me and I don’t know if I can just leave his store but moving in with my uncle and aunt to get everything right is life changing. Also what would my mother want? Time to think!

Last summer, we visited my boyfriend’s parents, who live in the next town, which is a coastal town.

We had planned this visit for a year but postponed it because of work.

It was finally happening, and we were both excited about it. His parents had retired, bought a piece of land near the beach, and built a beautiful house. We arrived at their home on a Friday evening. The trip took us about four hours. Once we settled in, his mother, Lori, asked for my help with indoor comfort. She complained that her mini split air conditioner had been acting up for several days. I am a cooling representative with a well-renowned cooling corporation in our hometown. Upon examining the cooling equipment, I realized that the air filters and some components needed replacing. I called around and got an experienced cooling tech to come and run an air conditioning repair on the HVAC equipment. Having worked in the cooling industry for nearly seven years, I knew several cooling specialists who knew more about air conditioning, even in nearby towns. We were able to schedule an appointment for the next day. My boyfriend’s partner has a beautiful pool, so we planned for a swim the next day after breakfast. With summer comes all sorts of events that bring people together.

My friends and I had been seeing this event’s advertisement on social media.

It would be an in-house party with our favorite DJ on the decks. It was more like Tomorrow Land but in a much smaller setting. We were excited about it. Summer had started strong with temperatures of up to 40.8°C. It was an evening party, and the cooling techs had ensured the mini split air conditioner functioned at optimum capacity. Though there were about 300 people in an enclosed space, the quality indoor comfort and air kept everyone pretty comfortable and bumping to the fantastic music the DJ was dishing us.
