I need temporary housing after being wrongfully evicted from a furnished house

My previous landlord was a real snake.

When I first met him, he pretended to be the nicest guy in the world. Before I signed the lease, he kept telling me how he would be over there in minutes if I needed anything. He promised to fix anything wrong with the house, regardless of what it was. I was swayed in part because the house came furnished. At the time, I was limited on furniture. I had a desk, TV, and two mattresses. Renting a furnished house was definitely convenient for me. I loved the couch and the bed more than anything else in the house, especially after I came home from a tough day at work. But after I had a small issue with the bathroom sink, things started to fall apart. Instead of hiring a plumber, the landlord showed up with a tool box. I asked him if he used to be a tradesman, but he claimed to have learned everything regarding home maintenance off the internet. The sink kept leaking, so much so that I had to leave a bucket underneath the p-trap at all times. When the air conditioner started acting up, he managed to break the system attempting to fix it. I had to take him to small claims court when he refused to pay for a new air conditioner. That’s when he pulled all of my belongings out of the house while I was at work, put them on the side of the road, and then changed the locks. While I seek temporary housing, I am getting a lawyer to pursue civil damages against my former landlord. I was lucky that a family member agreed to let me sleep on the couch until I find long term housing.
